I used to wake in the night and hear you breathing (or snoring). And I'd lie there in a sense of wonder, thinking "this is my husband! I'm his wife! This amazing, incredible human being chose me to spend his life with!" And the joy and astonishment of that miracle would soothe me back to sleep. Now I wake and the house is silent. No wonder, no miracle. Just emptiness and quiet. I miss you.
