Kevin (who I knew as Bob) was my gateway to understanding the goings on in British politics through his succinct but informative commentary on the subject, and I would always scan the forum for his posts. I also enjoyed hearing his perspective on films and TV shows, and found him to be a reliable gauge for the quality of a piece of entertainment. More than that though, I admired the way he treated people with respect even when he disagreed with them. He'd still strongly express his opinions when the situation called for it, but there was never any malice behind his words and it was always seemingly done with an intent to educate and improve others. His wit, thoughtfulness, and empathy stood out and gained him notice for all the right reasons. As someone with my own health concerns, but who is very shy about discussing his personal life, Bob's openness, honesty, and bravery in sharing his perspective with others helped me overcome some of my own reservations. Bob was an integral part of the TrekBBS family. And while it can't begin to compare to the loss felt by Kathy and by Kevin's family, for which you have my deepest sympathies, it's a major loss for the TrekBBS family too. Bob's absence from discussion there will be profoundly felt for a long time to come, and he will be remembered fondly even longer. He left this world too early, but his efforts left it a better place. Kathy and Kevin's family are in my thoughts, and I wish you all the best in this difficult time. Sincerely, Patrick (Locutus)
